A crane, new machinery, and ice-cream to celebrate the anniversary

5 years of Bauerfeind in Gera

There was a lot going on at Bauerfeind in Gera this week: five knitting machines were lifted into the fourth story of Keplerstraße 24/26 using a 35-meter crane – just in time to celebrate the fifth anniversary of the company premises.

The plan for these new machines is to knit sports supports in Gera. “This means that now, after five years, we’ll have the majority of production processes for sports supports, orthoses, and flat knit compression stockings right here in Gera. That’s an important milestone for us,” Lars Eulitz explains. The Site Manager invited all his employees to “birthday ice-cream”. A good time was had by all and there was much laughter and amazement – about the progress achieved by Bauerfeind in Gera over the past five years: on June 17, 2019, seven colleagues started to produce orthoses in Keplerstraße 35. Now, around 250 employees make Bauerfeind products in two buildings covering an area of 15,000 square meters in Keplerstraße Business Park.

Over the coming months, a raw materials warehouse measuring 600 square meters will be built. By combining processes at the Gera site, the team benefits from shorter transport journeys, making cooperation more efficient.

In Zeulenroda, Dirk Walther (left) and his small team got the knitting machines ready for transport. Melanie Pernutz (center) planned the layout in Gera. She knows exactly where which machine has to be positioned. Eric Heinrich (right) manages Team GZS1 that will knit sports supports in Gera from now on.

The anniversary was celebrated with a “mountain” of ice-cream which our colleagues enjoyed. See below for some impressions.
