Milestones in 2022

At the end of each year, it’s a nice tradition to take a look back... What happened at Bauerfeind in 2022?

We have summarized selected events for you on a double page in words and pictures:

The AirLoc

In February, Bauerfeind launched a new AirLoc generation. After acute injuries, the ankle orthosis combines immediate protection with functional comfort. It provides secure stabilization, it is softly padded on the inside, and features integrated air cushioning.

The future project

Precisely 449 individual steps had to be carried out to change the “old” SAP system over to the new SAP S4/Hana. The IT Team worked a total of three years on this, successfully completing the project in April – the perfect basis for digital processes in administration and production.

The trade show

A successful trade show appearance: in May, Bauerfeind was represented on four event days, manning a booth of around 500 square meters at the international OTWorld trade show. The highlight of the versatile program was the appearance of Dirk Nowitzki.

The filming

After visiting OTWorld in Leipzig, Dirk Nowitzki took a detour to Zeulenroda. In May, he was filmed with some colleagues. Short clips were produced for social media in which the Brand Ambassador humorously highlights Bauerfeind as an employer.

The summer party

The summer party: as a thank-you for all the hard work, the Executive Board and the Bauerfeind family organized a big party for all employees in July that took place on the Seestern Panorama Stage. More than 900 colleagues enjoyed the jolly get-together and danced until late into the night.

The visit

In August, Thuringia’s State Premier Bodo Ramelow visited the Gera production site to gain an insight during a visit with Mayor Julian Vonarb. This is where Bauerfeind currently has two partial sites in Keplerstraße 24 and 35 where production takes place on more than 7,000 square meters.

The anniversaries

Standing ovations for those celebrating anniversaries in 2020 and 2021: 106 colleagues were being honored in September for their many years’ being part of the company – among them Michael Weiß from the Bauerfeind Innovation Center for 40 years with Bauerfeind.

The award

In September, the Bauerfeind Sports Team received the Innovation Award from SkiMAGAZIN for the Sports Knee Support. The knee support was chosen as the winner in the Accessories category, beating ski helmets and backpacks, for example.

The changeover

After nearly 19 years with the company – including 13.5 years as the Chief Technical Officer – Andreas Lauth left Bauerfeind AG at the end of October as planned. He is succeeded by Katharina Dietrich who moved from working for Sonova AG, a hearing aid manufacturer, to Zeulenroda on September 1, 2022.
