Profile: Hugo 2.0

Name: Hugo 2.0
Occupation: fully automatic burn-off system
Size: 8 meters long x 4 meters wide
Age: 1 month
Short description: Hugo 2.0 burns off the residual yarn from the spools during the yarn covering process. This includes a total of eight process steps: Hugo inserts the spools, for example, before burning off the residual yarn. Leftovers are collected in transport containers.
Residence: Yarn Covering Department, Zeulenroda (Hall 1)
Strength: Hugo is fully automatic.
Note on maintenance: Hugo can work without being monitored for three shifts. Hardly any maintenance is required.
Family: Hugo’s father is Hugo 1.0. Hugo 1.0 has been burning off the yarns but is now a little older and slower. That is why Hugo 2.0 is currently supporting him. Hugo’s inventor is Mihail Buzatu, Medical Compression Stockings Production Manager. He designed Hugo 2.0 in an initial drawing on a whiteboard. Subsequently, his ideas were implemented by a Special Systems Engineer.
How colleagues describe Hugo:
“Hugo 2.0 helps us burn off significantly more residual yarn every day. Hugo is really quick.” (Mihail Buzatu, Medical Compression Stockings Production Manager)
“Hugo isn’t a drink but a machine.” (Susan Trost, Spinning Department Team Leader)
“Hugo provides real relief.” (Steffen Kempe, Mechanic)
It’s not only Hugo 2.0 that’s new in the Yarn Covering Department but also two spooling machines with six-armed robots. They do important preparatory work for covering the yarn. “Thanks to the two six-armed robots, we’re faster, we take pressure off our teams, and we can meet the increasing yarn demand,” Mihail Buzatu explains.
