Here’s why our teams are using different packaging methods

New padding material used by the Logistics Department

Since December 2024, Bauerfeind has been extensively using new padding material in its Logistics Department: environmentally friendly paper padding replaces bubble wrap in transport packaging. This paper is 100% biodegradable and can be recycled.

From left to right: Environment Manager Christian Gerbert (left) was in charge of the project, Oliver Süß from the Logistics Department was responsible, for example, for the integration in the packaging stations, Stefanie Käßner from Purchasing procured the material, Logistics employee Anne Krauße packs boxes using the new material, and Julian Musiol supported the project as the Head of the Logistics Center.

The project was initiated by Katharina Dietrich, Chief Technical Officer, because customers have repeatedly been asking about more environmentally friendly padding material. Whether the new paper was as suitable as the previous material was checked by a project team during a test phase lasting four months. Patrick Seiß, Head of DACH Customer Service, asked two selected customers for help with this. And the results were positive: the new paper protects the contents as effectively, does not get them dirty, and is easy for the Logistics Team to handle.

Material consumption was also reduced, thanks to this project – by 70%! Boxes were adjusted and the teams made aware of mindful material use.

First feedback has been positive and shows: customers are happy to use the material in their own boxes as well.

Anne Krauße uses the new material for packaging. She has been working in Bauerfeind’s Logistics Department for 7 years.
