Impressions from “The latest from the Executive Board” in Gera

“Small ideas can become large in Gera”

In Gera as well, there was a great deal of interest in a live session with Rainer Berthan and Katharina Dietrich: Well over 250 employees attended “The latest from the Executive Board”. In order to accommodate everyone, our site management team quickly refurbished a large hall in the industrial park that was no longer in use and furnished it with chairs for the event.

Before the session got started, the Executive Board visited the company premises at the Keplerstraße Business Park where Bauerfeind now has 300 employees. The tour clearly demonstrated what Chief Technical Officer Katharina Dietrich later emphasized as one of the location’s particular strengths: a love of experimentation. In Gera, employees try out ideas and turn them into practical solutions – like the driverless transport system “Herbie”. “Small ideas can become large in Gera,” praised Katharina Dietrich.

But the conversation with employees also touched on everyday topics. Because the site does not have its own canteen, food is currently delivered by an external provider. A request for appealing options at the vending machines was accepted by Site Manager Lars Eulitz for further review.

And of course many employees wondered about the future of Gera. Rainer Berthan and Katharina Dietrich both underscored the key importance of this location within Bauerfeind’s overall concept and reminded attendees of investments that have already been made as well as investments that are planned for the future. The Executive Board ruled out the possibility of new construction in Gera and referenced the long-term rental contracts concluded for the buildings that are in use.
