A complete production site after 2 years
The Gera site

A welding machine and a few tables – that was all the Bauerfeind production hall in Gera’s Keplerstrasse was equipped with in June 2019. At that time, seven colleagues started to make the EpiPoint elbow support. This was complemented in July with the MalleoTrain and LordoLoc in September, as well as a few new faces – 21 men and women worked for Bauerfeind in Gera at the end of 2019. Today – almost exactly two years later – 120 employees work there. And the site is now a complete production site. In addition to Production, the raw materials warehouse and Quality Management as well as a repair shop with two mechanics are now also located there. Material planning, work preparation and HR are currently still handled from Zeulenroda, but on some days, colleagues do visit Gera. 20 product transfers were managed successfully, meaning that all orthoses are now being manufactured in Gera as planned. The “Gera site” project is thus officially completed: “I’d like to thank the entire project team, who performed admirably even during ‘tough times’. We managed to stick to the schedule despite the restrictions caused by the COVID-19 pandemic,” Site Manager Lars Eulitz summarizes. Together with colleagues, the team celebrated completing the project in Gera on July 15.
