Great joy at Bauerfeind Sports: the new Outdoor Knee Support won the coveted ISPO Award for extraordinary sports products. No less impressive: the new SecuTec Genu Flex knee orthosis, Bauerfeind’s first flexible hard-frame orthosis. These new products from the Sports and Medical fields are examples of Bauerfeind’s innovative strength. Representing the teams, Product Managers Moritz Rahn and Nicola Schön explain what makes these products so unique.
ISPO Award for the Outdoor Knee Support
For the first time, Bauerfeind Sports’ Outdoor Knee Support unites the benefits of merino wool and a flat knit support made in Germany with functional elements. That is why the support received the ISPO Award which was handed out during the world’s biggest sports trade show in Munich on November 29, 2023. The international expert jury chooses the best sports products every year.
“We were able to develop a sports support for hikers which, in addition to its stabilizing effect, also considers other challenges outdoor enthusiasts face,” highlights Moritz Rahn, Product Manager. “This is achieved by the Downhill Relief System and Core Yarn Technology that allow the product to provide additional relief as well as guaranteeing robustness and wearing comfort.”
Successful launch of the SecuTec Genu Flex
The SecuTec Genu Flex is Bauerfeind’s first flexible hard-frame orthosis. As opposed to classic hard-frame orthoses, the SecuTec Genu Flex dynamically adapts to the anatomy of the leg. In addition, it can be individually adjusted in circumference and length, thus allowing personalized treatment.
“This is a real innovation in particular for active patients with injuries to the anterior or posterior cruciate ligament, collateral ligaments, menisci, or with complex instabilities,” explains Nicola Schön, Product Manager. “We launched the orthosis in September and have had a lot of positive industry feedback, most recently at DKOU.”
