Capable, communicative, creative

Julia Puschnerus

Three characteristics that apply 100% to Julia: the experienced orthotist has been in charge of technical product design in Remscheid for two years. Thanks to her friendly nature, she now knows practically each of the almost 80 employees there really well. Her creativity is not just in demand for the upcoming TRIactive development projects.

What are your tasks in technical product design?

I’m basically in charge of all foot orthoses in Remscheid. So I check how a specific product can be improved. I also try to work out how production processes can be streamlined. To do this, I work in close cooperation with Product Management as well as Sales.

You also have a great rapport with your local colleagues it seems.

Yes, that's true. I seem to be the voice for everyone. My colleagues visit my office to show me something or call me to the Production Department. I really enjoy that, and it’s important. We have a close bond and a work environment with a great family feel. After all, it’s essential to find out where there are problems so we can act.

What major development projects are you working on at the moment? Where is your creativity needed?

I’m currently working intensively with our orthotic blanks from the TRIactive Comfort and the new TRIactive Select range. One of my creative tasks is, for example, to design individual elements, such as the rigidus spring in the new orthotic blanks for hallux rigidus (stiffening of the big toe). In this case, I drew the element by hand and then punched it out from the material. If the element works like this, it will be digitized later for production.

In your opinion, what does a good foot orthosis have to offer?

A good foot orthosis is characterized by high-quality materials, solid workmanship, and appropriate functionality. It has to guide and support the foot, cushion the locomotor system, correct foot misalignments, distribute pressure effectively, and allow better heel-to-toe movement.

Which foot orthoses do you prefer wearing?

I actually wear foot orthoses in all my shoes. At the moment, I like the new TRIactive Shape because its core guides and supports the hindfoot really well. It also features great cushioning with the long-sole Globofit pad and the TRIactive jigsaw puzzle layer. This foot orthosis is ideal when you’ve got some space in your shoes. I also really like the GloboTec comfort, FS. The heel is equipped with nice cushioning, the workmanship is excellent, and it fits in practically all shoes.

About Julia Puschnerus

Julia knew early on that she wanted to be in a technical profession. On a recommendation, she looked into the orthotist trade and was fascinated straight away. She started her training at 16 and then worked as an orthotist for 23 years, managing a workshop for 15 years. Since October 2022, the 41-year-old foot expert has been working for Bauerfeind because she is interested in developing and designing products herself. In her spare time, Julia enjoys cooking, she goes to the gym, and potters about in her house in Wuppertal.
