Arsim Tahiri and Karin Meyer, Germany
It was a small team that started to work at the new company premises in Gera in the summer of 2019, including Karin Meyer. She is well known for her swift hands during packaging. Arsim Tahiri has also been a part of this team for about a year and, thanks to his witty manner, is always making people laugh at the site. A few weeks ago, both celebrated the site’s first anniversary, together with their approximately 60 colleagues.
Five colleagues have turned into 60 – do you still all know each other?
KARIN: Yes, we work in two shifts, and we meet when we start or go home. That’s a nice time to have a chat.
ARSIM: We’ll see how it goes when the new floor is added. Unfortunately, I will also move upstairs with my LordoLoc machine – I’m a little sad about that because the rest of my team is staying downstairs.
KARIN: I really don’t want to give him up... But we’ll still see each other around.
That says a lot about you as a team.
ARSIM: Absolutely... People always ask me: Are you enjoying your work? And my response is: For sure! I’m happy even when it’s always the same kind of work. I just think it’s cool. In the beginning, I had to get into it but now, I easily achieve my daily percentages. And Karin is the fastest anyway. She gets my products to perform checks. So I have to make sure she doesn’t drive me crazy because she’s so fast. [He laughs]
KARIN: It’s because I enjoy it so much. I worked in dispatch for a newspaper in East Thuringia. We always had to be fast there, and I didn’t lose that skill. Work that’s enjoyable and with such a team – I won’t find that again so quickly I’m sure.
How did you come to work for Bauerfeind?
ARSIM: Both via the job center. I lost my job in the production department of an automotive supplier in Gera. The job center then told me that Bauerfeind is coming to Gera, so I knew straight away that I wanted to be a part of it, why not!?
And you’re both still here. What do you think of all the development?
KARIN: Everything is constantly getting bigger, it’s never boring, always new products, new people. All this progress is wonderful. A lot of areas didn’t even exist before, like in sewing.
What has so far been your best experience here?
ARSIM: Your big party, right, Karin? [He winks] There was a lot of cake, good food, we had a great time all sitting together.
KARIN: [She laughs] You’re right! We had a belated celebration for my wedding in September. We were only about 20 people then. But in general, every day is great because the atmosphere is just right.
