A look back at the Olympic Games

Review

The closing of the Olympic Village also concluded our team’s work in Paris. Time for a summary: our technicians supported 807 athletes from 116 countries covering all continents with more than 1,600 products. The GenuTrain was handed out most often. Players representing team sports visited our service station the most, followed by track and field athletes and martial artists. Some cases were particularly memorable.

This included helping wrestler Annika Wendle. She sadly missed out on the Bronze Medal in Freestyle up to 53 kg because she twisted her left knee after 19 seconds. After 1:36 minutes, the fight was abandoned early, and our technician Alexander Lehle then helped her in our service station by providing the athlete with a SecuTec Genu Flex.

Some athletes visited our team with their medals, for example Hyejeong Park from South Korea. We provided support for the 21-year-old weight lifter’s elbow. She won Silver in the Women’s category over 81 kg which she then celebrated with our Alexander Lehle and Friederike Schulz. Moesha Johnson, marathon swimmer from Australia, was doubly happy with her Silver Medal and the treatment at our service station. One of the products given to her was the ManuLoc Rhizo long. Lena Stojković from Croatia won a Bronze Medal. The Taekwondo athlete was equipped with products for recovery by Slavica Lipovac and Mattis Hohmann.

In Paris, our team was highly appreciated by the athletes, physicians from the polyclinic, and team physicians. Depicted here is our team with an Italian physician from the Organizing Committee. For many physicians, these meetings are the start of a long partnership with Bauerfeind in their home country. Contacts with those responsible for the 2026 Olympic Winter Games in Italy and the 2028 Summer Games in Los Angeles were also established in Paris.
The Red Hot Chili Peppers, representing their home town during the Closing Ceremony, also directed attention to LA. A real eye-catcher: lead singer Anthony Kiedis wore a GenuTrain on his right knee during the performance.
Everything packed and ready for the journey home, from left to right: Alexander Lehle, Slavica Lipovac, Mattis Hohmann, Friederike Schulz, Erik Balnuweit and Walid Yassine.
