Kick-off in Leipzig

The Olympic Games

“People from all over the world are coming together in Paris, and you have the unique opportunity to join them. I hope everything goes well.” This is how Katharina Dietrich, Chief Technical Officer, welcomed the Olympic Team during the kick-off on May 15, 2024 at the OTWorld trade show in Leipzig. The organizational team as well as the technicians gathered there who will look after the athletes using Bauerfeind products. Project Manager Jörg Ritzerfeld and his team shared information about the challenges and details of the work in the polyclinic. It is located in the Olympic Village in the Saint Denis district of Paris. As opposed to Rio de Janeiro or Tokyo, the work in Paris will not be carried out in containers or tents, but an existing medical building will be used, which will provide better work conditions for our team.

The first team will set off for Paris on July 15, 2024. This is necessary because on July 18 – 8 days before the start of the Olympic Games – the Olympic Village will open, which means the beginning of caring for the athletes.

Facts about the Olympic Games in Paris

Logo: The elegantly simple logo for Paris 2024 depicts a gold medal with a white flame burning in the center. When combined, these two symbols unite into a representation of Marianne, the national figure of the French Republic.

TV broadcast: The weekend of August 3 and 4, 2024 is worth making a note of: Many sports overlap on those days with medal competitions: Track and field, swimming, tennis, judo, table tennis, fencing, archery, cycling, golf, equestrian, rowing, rhythmic gymnastics, badminton and sport shooting.

Mascot: Once again, there is one mascot for the Olympic Games and another for the Paralympic Games. They are both based on the famous “Phrygian caps” (conical hats with the top curled forward) and thus full of symbolism. Within France and beyond, these red head coverings are inseparable from the French Revolution and the republic founded as a result.
