Bauerfeind at the Olympic Games
Rainer Berthan visited the team in Cortina and witnessed the victory of our Brand Ambassadors

Rainer Berthan, our Chief Executive Officer, attended the Olympic Winter Games on February 21. Together with Kristin John (Regional Director WEA / Western Europe and Americas, pictured on the right) and Carlo Sabato (Head of Bauerfeind’s subsidiary in Italy, 2nd from the right), he visited the team in the Policlinica Olimpica di Codivilla in Cortina d'Ampezzo. The following team members shared their experiences with them (from left to right): Dirk Schwager, Daniel Martin, Fabio Terrazzi, Jörg Ritzerfeld, and Ann-Christin Höhne.

During his visit to the Olympic Village, Rainer Berthan was able to see how the athletes lived. The Olympic Village in Cortina d'Ampezzo has been designed as temporary premises on the site of a decommissioned airport: More than 1,000 athletes and mentors were accommodated in 350 small, modular units (“tiny houses”) which will be reused at camp sites across Italy after the Games. The extensive discussion with Prof. Dr. Bernd Wohlfahrt, Team Germany’s leading Team Physician, focused on medical topics.
In the evening, Rainer Berthan and team members watched the third and fourth run of the two-woman bobsleigh, witnessing the Olympic victory of our Brand Ambassadors Laura Nolte and Deborah Levi.
Rainer Berthan summarized: “Other than the Olympic Games, there is no occasion when we can do so much for the excellent reputation of our products with sports physicians and athletes from all over the world, whilst experiencing all this joy, recognition, and all these emotions!”
