Bauerfeind at the Olympic and Paralympic Games

Bauerfeind will be represented in Tokyo by an international team in the polyclinic of the Olympic Village to look afterthe athletes’ needs, providing preventive care as well as solutions after injuries. This assignment will be anything but usual.
“This year, direct preparation within the team was difficult because we weren’t able to physically meet at all before the Olympic Games, owing to social distancing and travel restrictions,” explains Jörg Ritzerfeld, Marketing Manager Bauerfeind Sports and Olympic Games Project Manager. In early May, around 8,000 products went on the long journey from Zeulenroda, Germany, to Tokyo, Japan. During the period from July 7 to September 10, a total of 15 technicians from five countries and three colleagues from the Bauerfeind Sports Marketing Team will follow.
Our service station within the polyclinic will be open from 7 am until 11 pm. The orthotists will work in shifts to help the participants with acute or chronic injuries and supply them with our products. Our Marketing colleagues will not only take on the role of Team Manager but, as the official COVID-19 Liaison Officers (CLO), they also have to ensure that Bauerfeind complies with all specified hygiene rules. “In addition to carrying out rapid COVID-19 tests, this also includes the documentation of all our journeys and tasks of each day,” Jörg Ritzerfeld explains. Furthermore, our team in Tokyo must ensure that contact is always kept to a minimum. This also means that the use of public transport is not permitted.
