Our team at the Paralympic Games in Tokyo
From August 24 to September 5, some 4,500 athletes from more than 160 countries will compete for medals at the Paralympic Games. Our team has already been in action in the polyclinic since August 17 and by the time of the opening ceremony had already cared for more than 80 athletes. Sometimes, however, even doctors need professional help, as Kai Pittelkow reports.
The orthotist, who works for the Field Service in Germany, helped Niclas Groen. The Swedish team doctor, who has two knee prostheses, complained of bilateral medial knee pain. He received the GenuTrain OA for both knees including the Triactive OA insole with a raised outer edge. He was so pleased with the effect that he came back to the clinic the following day to thank the team in person. Kai Pittelkow was very happy about this. “There is nothing better than seeing a person’s quality of life significantly improved by our advice and products,” says Kai Pittelkow. He shared the shifts with orthotist and sales representative Sven Swonke, who also returned from Tokyo with positive impressions. “Our products have definitely passed the practical test. The athletes are very pleased and also impressed.”
Since August 27, sales representatives Stefan Schlegel and Alexander Lehle, orthopedics trainer at the Bauerfeind Academy, have been on duty at the polyclinic. They are supported by our Japanese college Hiroki Oizumi from our distributor Pacific Supply. Miryam Mühlbach from Sports Marketing is helping with organizational issues, as liaison with the various delegations and in the role of COVID-19 Liaison Officer (CLO). As CLO, she is responsible for ensuring that all mandatory Corona measures are followed in Tokyo and that all team members are tested regularly.
