Bauerfeind investing 100 million euros by 2028
Expansion continuing in Zeulenroda
Planning and preparations have been going for months – now the final step has been taken: This week, the contract with engineering company Ed. Züblin AG was signed. The Supervisory Board had previously approved the site expansion in Zeulenroda, so the work can begin. From early June, diggers will start arriving.
This will kick off the biggest investment plans in the history of Bauerfeind: By spring 2028, a total of around 100 million Euros will have been invested in new production and storage spaces, a state-of-the-art Community Center, the new Energy Center and the expanded Central Logistics.

What is being built from May?
Next to Hall 2, a new, even bigger hall complex is planned: It consists of a production hall into which the Innovation Center will be integrated. A raw materials warehouse will be connected directly to the northern side of this hall. The Community Center rounds off the design. This new construction has an impressive trapezoidal footprint, a glass façade, and a white balcony protruding from this façade that surrounds the whole building. This architectural gem will house the new staff restaurant. There will also be sufficient space for meeting and training rooms as well as a conference area. This will be an attractive port of call for employees and guests alike – diagonally opposite the widely visible Bauerfeind Tower which will remain the site’s central point of focus.
Developing into an attractive campus
The surroundings will also change fundamentally: Between the existing and new buildings, a modern campus will be created gradually, with a central promenade, spacious green areas with a lot of trees and places to simply spend time like in a park. What is known as “Triebeswall” will be a special highlight. This a small accessible mound with paths, peaceful sections, and a panoramic view of the surroundings – perfect for short breaks and meetings during the workday.
Bauerfeind Campus can still be reached via the existing entrance from Triebeser Straße, or – and this is new – from the north via an access road with a roundabout from Bauerfeindallee. There will be more than 300 parking spaces in the future, enriched with a lot of green spaces, trees, and grasses. This functional parking area will blend in harmoniously with the Campus.

A sign of Bauerfeind’s future
On the one hand, the extensive investments safeguard existing employment at Bauerfeind. At the same time, the company can expect additional personnel requirements based on demographic changes and continuing growth – at all three of its production sites in Zeulenroda, Gera, and Remscheid.
“It’s a long-term commitment to our core business, to Germany, to Zeulenroda, and in particular to the people here,” explains Rainer Berthan, Chief Executive Officer. He emphasizes: “You won’t find all this dynamic progress elsewhere that we’re experiencing at Bauerfeind at the moment. This extraordinary development, these huge investments, the trust, as well as the courage being expressed are not exactly commonplace right now. We’re in a remarkable situation that we’re going to handle responsibly!”
>>>In his interview, Rainer Berthan told us what opportunities are associated with the construction projects, why this investment is a historical milestone, and what he is personally looking forward to the most.
Nahtlos Magazine will report on the site expansion in-depth over the coming two years. As always, we’re looking forward to your ideas, suggestions, and questions.
All the best
