Last week, Chief Technology Officer Katharina Dietrich performed the symbolic groundbreaking ceremony for the new energy center in Zeulenroda, together with her colleagues Christian Hagemann (Head of Technology) and David Eichhorn (Head of Property Management), who is leading the project. In addition to Bauerfeind employees, guests at this small ceremony included architects, planners, general contractors, and energy consultants.

"This is a milestone for our company and a key project that secures our future," emphasized Katharina Dietrich, thanking everyone involved. The energy center will supply the site with sufficient electricity in the future. Furthermore, the use of reversible heat pumps significantly advances the replacement of fossil fuels.

The energy center is being built at the end of "Am Birkenwege" street, opposite the fire department access to Hall 4. "This construction project will take us some time. Even though we'll see a building relatively quickly, the media road, plant construction, and the final connection of the existing buildings will continue until spring 2027," explained Christian Hagemann.

The energy center is a prerequisite for the long-term expansion of the Zeulenroda site. Concrete plans are already in place to expand the central warehouse by summer 2028. This will take place in two phases: First, a new building will be constructed behind the old central warehouse. Subsequently, the old and new buildings will be merged – while both facilities remain in operation.
