Summary of Olympic Wintergames

Bauerfeind products in demand in Italy

This has always been the case when helping out at the Olympic Games: Every product that was handed out by our colleagues had to be documented. The statistics for the 2026 Olympic Games show: Almost 800 Bauerfeind products were provided to athletes in six locations. Supports for the knee (140), back (57), and hand (43) were needed the most. Just like during all previous Olympic Games, compression stockings were particularly popular for recovery.

The competitors sought out our products for acute injuries, in case there was a flare-up of an old problem, or for various signs of excessive strain. Requirements varied by location: Most acute injuries happened where Freestyle Skiing, Snowboarding, or Alpine Skiing took place. The Biathlon competitions in Antholz-Anterselva were more sedate in comparison.

The number of people being treated in the individual locations was relatively balanced: In Milan, we helped around 100 people, and in Predazzo as well as Cortina d’Ampezzo (including Antholz-Anterselva) about 80 each. Roughly 120 and therefore most patients were treated in Livigno and in Bormio. The majority of the 35 knee orthoses was needed there, being provided in emergencies, according to the statistics.

“Our products were in demand and we were perfectly set up in the individual locations,” Project Manager Jörg Ritzerfeld points out, sharing two more figures:
1) During this year’s Winter Olympics, people from 61 countries used Bauerfeind’s service. (For context: Teams from around 100 countries took part.) And 2) All 16 disciplines were represented.
